Near Field Communication (NFC) is a technology that promises to revolutionize the ways in which people have access to information and also the way they use them. Soon, NFC-enabled devices will allow mobile payment, loyalty, interactive advertising, ID authentication, transit fare collection and many other uses. INSIDE Secure is a company that owns a large number of NFC patents, and its NFC solutions are based on third-generation silicon.

Looking to transform NFC mobile commerce and set new industry benchmarks, the company recently introduced VaultSEcure IC, a secure element.

For the first time, the VaultSEcure IC enables numerous trusted third parties to independently deploy and control their own applets in the same safe element, and it also introduces Secure Memory Swap technology. This is an INSIDE Secure exclusive that offers OEMs with an affordable and safe method to achieve very large storage capacity for SE applets, making use of strong encryption, memory and a microprocessor.

“As the first Global Platform 2.2-compliant secure element, our VaultSEcure IC marks an industry milestone as the first device of its kind to enable secure element co-ownership and solve the control issues,” said Pierre Garnier, Executive Vice President of the NFC and Secure Payment Divisions at INSIDE Secure. “With the availability of the VaultSEcure IC, smartphone manufacturers, mobile network operators and other trusted third parties can co-own the SE and install, personalize and administer their own open- or closed-loop payment.”

Recently, the company unveiled the AT90SCR200, the first member of a new family of EMV-compliant smart card reader microcontrollers. Developers who create their products based on the design of their smart card readers on this device can rapidly and easily obtain EMV Level 1 Type Approval for their products. According to the company, this is an important symbol of quality throughout the industry.
